OUR MISSION
The Eureka Initiative serves two goals.
Our first and immediate goal is to develop and spread class consciousness and a revolutionary political approach among the Australia people, through the tools of propaganda, media and volunteer work.
Our secondary goal is working towards the establishment of Socialism in Australia through securing national independence and the formation of a true mass party of the Australian people. The Australian Labor Party (ALP) was the historical party of the Australian working class, however it was founded on an incomplete and undeveloped social-democratic line that led it down the path of racial chauvinism in its early days and neoliberal capitulation in more recent times. This Social-Democratic foundation must be discarded and replaced with a developed Marxist-Leninist line adapted to the conditions of Australia.
We aim towards the establishment and consolidation of a Communist Party that will serve as the vehicle for the interests and will of the Australian working classes. The Communist Party must be independent, maintain a militant class consciousness and embed itself in the fabric of Australian society on as many levels as possible. We will work with other organisations and parties who share this goal.
On the path towards the dictatorship of the Proletariat, we support an Australian New Democracy that ends our submission to global imperialism and does away with our status as a semi-colonial/sub-imperial power. We wish for an alliance of all forces that support this goal; from the working class to progressive elements of the petite bourgeoisie who also have an interest in independence. To promote this, we will work to promote a left-wing patriotic line within the ALP, the Greens and pro-independence elements of the rural ‘right wing’ of Australian politics.
FAQ
Q: What is the difference between the EI and other organisations? How does the EI engage with other groups?
A: As part of our operation we encourage networking, collaboration and co-operation between organisations. We are willing to engage in front-level unity with others who share our core goals on various issues. Right now we are member organisation of the New Democratic Front of Australia. What distinguishes our organisation in particular is our emphasis on the struggle for Australian independence as the uniting point for a revolutionary movement.
Q: Why Marxism-Leninism?
A: Marxism-Leninism is the methodology by which society can be rationally and scientifically understood. We believe it is the only path towards a concrete and comprehensive understanding of Australian society. That being said, we are willing to co-operate with others who differ with us ideologically provided the fundamental core goals are shared.
Q: What is our stance on colonialism?
A: The colonisation of Australia was part of the brutal expansion of Capitalism across the world. It continues to be relevant today and a defeatist colonialist mentality still infests Australia, reflected in our inability to consider an independent path of development and the continued suppression of Indigenous peoples. We advocate for broad autonomy for Indigenous peoples and designated representatives of first nations in the legislature alongside a cultural restructuring that moves away from old Colonial influences. We do not however take a defeatist nihilist position that Australia must be ‘abolished’
Q: What is our stance on religion?
A: We are formally a secular organisation, as such no religion or non-religion will be favoured over another. We maintain a materialist outlook on socio-economics and history, and our analysis is not grounded in the framework of any religion. We encourage people who may interpret their faith in a revolutionary manner and have no problem with individuals using their personal religious principles to guide them in political decisions. On the other hand, religious organisations and groups that undermine popular sovereignty and actively serve imperialism should be opposed; Zionists, Salafists, supporters of institutionalised Caste Systems and so on.
Q: What economic principles do we support?
A: Having had hindsight of experience of the soviet model, we believe a strict rigid planned economy is unsustainable and that having vital industries (resources, land & heavy industry etc.) and infrastructure be solely owned by a people’s government with other industries allowed to exist and operated separately (with proper oversight) would be a balanced approach to having a functioning, efficient & flexible economy. This Socialist Market system is transitional to a planned system, guided by the creative application of science and the use of modern computer and AI technology to account for historical inefficiencies.
Q: What is our stance on LGTBQ issues?
A: We affirm the dignity of all individuals and believe that LGTBQ people are attacked by right-wing media as a convenient scapegoat to divide the masses. We do not take the position of liberal intersectionality promoted by bourgeois think tanks and academia, which frames all issues as part of a nebulous system of ‘oppression’, instead affirming class struggle & imperialism as the primary historical drivers and the core contradictions of society.
Q: What is our stance on immigration?
A: We are Marxist-Leninists, not liberal-globalists. The system of free movement of labour and capital is essential for the perpetuation of neoliberal finance capitalism. The export of skilled labour from the periphery to the core serves to perpetuate imperialist hierarchy and prevents the development of peripheral nations. On the other hand we are for the rights of refugees and against the scapegoating of immigrants for social problems.
Q: What is our stance on AI?
A: We do not have a blanket opposition to ‘AI’. We are for the productive, pro-social use of technology to empower the masses. However, we are against the replacement of social life by artificial simulation and the misuse of technology to further social division and atomisation.
